Kilian Jornet of Spain blistered the Western States 100 on Sunday, finishing in a time of 15:34, the third-fastest time in the history of the race. Mike Wolfe came second, four minutes back, followed by Nick Clark in third.
Geoff Roes, one of the pre-race favorites, dropped out at mile 55.
Banff, Alberta’s Ellie Greenwood was the female winner in 17:55. Her time was the second fastest on record, shy of Ann Trason’s 1994 time of 17:37.
Kami Semick,of Bend OR, beat three-time winner Nikki Kimball by five seconds in a finishing sprint.
